howard-wizig-colorHoward Wizig is the President and CEO of both Vivius Holdings, L.L.C., and of its primary subsidiary, Recovery Data Connect, L.L.C.  Mr. Wizig is an acknowledged national leader in the rapidly changing healthcare financing environment, including the development of Consumer Driven and managed care products and programs, and the formation of companies that offer them.  Mr. Wizig founded Vivius and  created the Vivius personalized healthcare system model.  Mr. Wizig was also the founding Chairman of the Consumer Driven Health Care Association.  Mr. Wizig has over 30 years of experience in the field of healthcare financing.

Mr. Wizig has acted as an advisor to elected officials on issues related to healthcare public policy and government sponsored programs.  Mr. Wizig served a two-year appointment as an Entrepreneur in Residence for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, focused on both entrepreneurship and education/youth development.  Mr. Wizig also served a two-year term as volunteer President of one of the largest and oldest places of worship in the Kansas City metroplex.

Prior to forming Vivius, Mr. Wizig was the founding President and CEO of Princeps Medical Practice Management, a physician sponsored practice management company and was a consultant with Towers Perrin.  Mr. Wizig provided consulting services to his clients related to the strategy, design, development, implementation, evaluation/negotiation, marketing, pricing/underwriting, and compliance evaluation of managed healthcare products.

Prior to consulting, Mr. Wizig worked in various capacities with Aetna Life and Casualty.  At Aetna’s request, Mr. Wizig joined Partners National Health Plans (a joint venture between Aetna and Voluntary Hospitals of America) during its inception year and was instrumental in developing and designing various risk and non-risk managed care products, including an integrated multiple option product, a point-of-service HMO-type product and one of the nation’s first self-funded HMO products.  He was also responsible for aspects of managed care finance including underwriting, pricing, reinsurance, and development and support of the reimbursement arrangements with providers and negotiations of those arrangements.  He coordinated various aspects of the network development and pricing for Partners.

Mr. Wizig is a frequent speaker on healthcare financing, consumer-driven healthcare, and managed care issues, and has published articles on these topics.  Mr. Wizig is an Advisory Board member of the Health Insurance Report for The Bureau Of National Affairs in Washington DC (recently acquired by Bloomberg).  Mr. Wizig serves as President of the Board of the Menorah Heritage Foundation, and as a Board member for Infegy, Inc.  Mr. Wizig also served as a Health Advisory Board member for the Flint HillsCenter for Public Policy.

Mr. Wizig received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.  In September 2000, Mr. Wizig was honored as an “Up and Comer” by Modern Healthcare Magazine.  In December 2004, the Galen Institute honored Mr. Wizig by naming him one of the 17 “Heroes of Consumerism in Healthcare”.
